Pamela Beer is a Senior Associate with over 35 years of experience in the areas of highway safety, strategic planning and analysis, communications and community outreach, public awareness, media relations, and transportation safety planning. She has participated either as a project manager or key staff in each of the 21 Strategic Highway Safety Plans (SHSP) Cambridge Systematics has managed. She is currently managing the SHSP in Virginia and recently assisted Alaska and Louisiana. She completed updates and assisted with implementation of the SHSP in California, Rhode Island, Maryland, Colorado and Nevada. She worked with the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Office of Road Safety developing marketing plans and materials for the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), Rural Local and Tribal Roads Tool Kit, Safety Funding at the Local Level, the Systemic Safety Project Selection Tool and Training, and the National Center for Rural Road Safety. Ms. Beer participated in the development of several of Louisiana’s Regional Safety Plans and developed the script and information for a Local Road Safety Training video under development at the National Center on Rural Road Safety. She also developed the training workshop Effectively Communicating Safety with Elected Officials. She is a former lobbyist for a national trade association and served as press secretary to two members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
