We’re excited to announce a new annual internship program with Morgan State University (MSU), a Carnegie-classified high-level research university operating a University Transportation Center as part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s University Transportation Centers Program.

“This internship program is the result of our emerging relationship with the distinguished faculty at Morgan State,” says Roan Bennett, Vice President of Planning. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with a renowned and like-minded institution such as Morgan State to support the next generation of young transportation professionals.”

The internship program will give one student each year the opportunity to apply their world-class transportation curriculum to real-world projects at CS, providing them with a foundation for a successful career in transportation.

On June 10th, 2024, we welcomed our first MSU intern, Nashid Khadem, to our Planning team. Nashid is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Transportation and Urban Infrastructure at MSU. Before joining CS, Nashid worked as a Business Intelligence Analyst at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, where she applied her data analysis and mapping skills to support the planning and performance team in improving public transit facilities.

CS’ partnership with Morgan State University began in 2022 as part of our ongoing DEI efforts. A partnership with MSU allows us to expand the impact and awareness of DEI within the next generation of transportation professionals while providing opportunities for the diverse and talented MSU student body. We look forward to the great work our interns will accomplish and the new pathways for collaboration, mentorship, and innovation the internship program will bring.
